Iconic Aviation Ad Finishes Titanine Dope 1916

Titanine Dope

British Origin - British Manufacture - The Most Flexible - The Most Impervious

DOPING.No. 5.

Experiments have shown that a Dope protected by a suitable GLOSS. Varnish or Paint, preferably the latter, has its life considerably prolonged. Now, as most Dopes dry with a glossy finish, it will be obvious that they do not afford such a good hold for Varnish or Paint as does a Dope which dries with a matt or dull surface.

A glossy surface is also misleading in that it gives one the idea that a greater deposit of Dope exists than is really present, and, whereas the surface may be pleasing to the eye, it may be found, when examined with a powerful glass, to be full of small " pin-holes," in which case it does not prevent penetration by the finishing coaling.

Manufacturers desiring to encourage the production of a perfect Dope should reconcile themselves to do without the pretty glossy finish to which they have been accustomed in the past.

"TITANINE" DRIES WITH A MATT SURFACE, WHICH AFFORDS THE BEST HOLD FOR A FINISHING VARNISH OR PAINT.FLAME- PROOF - NON - POISONOUS - LIGHT AND ADHESIVE
